The Alaska Dawn

The Alaska Dawn is a sixty five foot expedition trawler designed to take small groups into remote areas with all the comforts of home. Little Hoquim Shipyard has been building both commercial and charter vessels since 1971 and has been proven to make a safe reliable craft that are proven tough in Alaskan waters. In fact a great many of our commercial fishing vessels in the Kodiak and Homer fleet are made from the same mold as the Alaskan Dawn. In this case Little Hoquium made not only a tough and sea worthy vessel but one with all of the comforts of home. The interior is well laid out and boats three private staterooms all with their own heads and showers. Two of which have both a double bed and a single while the forward room has two single beds and its own bath. The living area is warm comfortable and is heated by a oil-fired stove which keeps the area warm and cozy. It is a great area and has a great panoramic view for guests to enjoy the sights while sitting or traveling.

The wheel house on the Alaska Dawn also offers a beautiful leather sitting area, leather Knoedlen helm chairs and a L settle and table in the Pilothouse. Also there is a day head of the back deck for while fishing and the boat is equipped with trolling valves and down riggers for salmon fishing. On the back deck there is a hydraulic davit with a pot puller set up to retrieve shrimp and crab pots and a large swim step which makes loading and unloading passengers to and from the skiff very easy. On the roof we have smaller skiffs that we launch with a hydraulic crane so that we can then access the rivers and back bays where the big boat cannot go. Everything on board including the engines and equipment is very well maintained and upgraded to keep us safe and running during our trips.

Safety gear includes top of the line electronics, an EPIRB, satellite phone, life jackets and flares, survival raft, survival suits, and a top of the line fire extinguishing system. The vessel packs 2100 gallons of fuel and 900 gallons of water.
